THE NEW TTF CLINIC - TWO YEARS IN THE MAKING

When Tiny Tim & Friends first started running our official Clinic in 2007, the entire TTF staff operated out of one room at Dr. Tim’s practice, Corpmed. Over the years as the team grew we eventually opened our own office but the Clinic remained at Corpmed in a small area where we administered drugs, took vitals and measurements and counselled our patients. The facility was fine to begin with but as our patient numbers expanded we had to think about relocating to a new space.

So in 2013 when we moved offices we chose a plot with an additional building which would serve as a potential space for the clinic and in early 2014 began the process of fitting out the new Clinical space, including painting, tiling, and general building repairs. No one really knew the bureaucracy, paperwork, construction, building expansion and number of meetings which lay ahead of us to make the opening of the clinic possible on our new site. But after the perseverance of several key staff in September 2015 we officially opened the new Tiny Tim and Friends Clinic.

The new space is a great resource for our 936 patients with a play area, counselling room, registration, pharmacy, two clinical rooms, an undercover waiting area and an art room. Not only will the new space allow us to offer much more patient privacy and in depth medical and social support but also provides areas for our children to come and play and be children without focussing entirely on their HIV status and health.

So to all the donors who supported the clinic relocation we would like to say thank you! To all the individuals who donated their time to help to ensure the clinic was up to the standards needed - thank you! And to all of the Tiny Tim & Friends staff who exhibited patience, perseverance and dedication to the relocation of our clinic an especially big thank you!
