Today, HIV treatment is available across Zambia. But within Lusaka 1 in 7 people are HIV+. With over 60% of people living with HIV on treatment, government clinics are stretched. Getting individuals, onto ART early and supporting them to stay on treatment is essential to ensuring that people can live long, healthy lives. Attending clinic appointments on time and taking medication properly means HIV transmission will be reduced to ZERO. But this is not always so simple. Children and adolescents from the compounds of Lusaka have a range of social and counseling needs to help them understand HIV and stay on treatment. |
