About Dr. Tim Meade, TTF Founder
Dr. Tim Meade, M.D., dedicated his life to HIV/AIDS response, particularly in children, through his pioneering work in Zambia. After earning his medical degree from the University of Minnesota in 1986 and specializing in internal medicine, Dr. Meade's career took him across the globe. His journey included a significant stint at the National Institutes of Health and work in Russia and Ukraine, where he developed a deep commitment to addressing HIV and tuberculosis co-infections during pregnancy.
In 2003, Dr. Meade moved to Lusaka, Zambia, where he initially
worked as a general practitioner while volunteering at Kasisi Children's Home, an orphanage with numerous children living with HIV. Witnessing the dire need for specialized care, he founded Tiny Tim & Friends in 2004, named after his adopted son Tim. Tiny Tim & Friends has grown to provide comprehensive medical, psychosocial, and nutritional support to orphans, vulnerable children, and pregnant women living with HIV. The organization Dr. Meade founded has been instrumental in reducing mother-to-child HIV transmission and improving the quality of life for many children in Zambia.
Dr. Meade's legacy lives on through the enduring impact of Tiny Tim & Friends, which remains a beacon of hope and a testament to his unwavering dedication to eliminating HIV/AIDS among children. Dr. Tim Meade passed away on September 3, 2016, but his visionary work and compassionate spirit continue to inspire and effect change.
